Government Lifts Curfew on Nalerigu After Security Stability.

The Government of Ghana has officially lifted the curfew placed on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region, following a remarkable improvement in security.

According to a statement from the Minister for the Interior, the decision was based on recommendations from the National Security Council, which confirmed that peace and stability have largely been restored in the area.

The curfew, which took effect on Sunday, July 27, 2025, was part of urgent measures to protect lives and property after rising tensions.

Officials praised the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and residents for their patience, discipline, and cooperation during the restriction period. The government further urged community members to uphold peace and rely on dialogue and lawful means in resolving disputes, emphasizing that lasting stability depends on unity and tolerance.

This move marks a significant step toward strengthening trust between the people and security agencies, and it is expected to boost social and economic activities in the area, which were heavily slowed during the curfew.

For many residents of Nalerigu, this announcement is more than a policy change it is the restoration of normal life and renewed hope for progress.
